First off, we have a working Twitter app. Last week, Twitter killed the regular way that apps sign in called “basic auth” and from what I hear, Microsoft didn’t get as much of a notice as the rest of the population. However, they corrected it and now it works. Sadly, There are no new features so there’s not much to say about it.

Second, we have an official Metronome app. There’s not much to it, other than it looks pretty nice and that those who follow DiNoGames, may have already tried the XNA version of it.
Congrats, DiNo, on getting your app in the marketplace. Can’t wait to see more!

via zuneboards.

What this means for us, I don’t know, since that is the first app ever to get into the marketplace…If this means they are going to start accepting apps, this does not mean we will stop providing apps, as we provide XNA apps, which are coded differently then marketplace apps.

Well I have recently created a twitter for our site! Yay! Well so far it will only display the latest news that is going to be posted here, I have not decided whether or not I want to make it post stuff from the games side to, because it might overload our API limit. We will see though, but I want to give the news page some much needed attention lol. Anyways, check it out, http://www.twitter.com/zhdapps or if you are on twitter follow us, @zhdapps

Sorry guys, I was editing a theme on my local site this morning and didn’t realize I pasted some stuff in the wrong site. Which in turn made the site go down cause some functions didn’t exist. So no one told me till about 5 min ago that it was actually down, so I had no idea it even happened…. All should be fixed and working again, sorry again guys.

Alright, I hope you guys like the new home page, I do! So everything should be about 100% back to the way it was before I shut everything down and transferred. The forums are offline until further notice. I probably will not put them back up any time soon as they weren’t really being used much anyways. As for the developers and so forth, I don’t know if all the permissions and so forth stayed when I transferred stuff over. I will probably check all of that tomorrow. The public view though is working ok, except for some reason “Alarm HD” doesn’t have a picture and it ran off, so if someone wants to fix it, let me know lol…

One thing before I forget, none of you have users, don’t worry I will be adding you all back within the next 20 minutes or so, I couldn’t have you guys running around on the site logged in while I was working on it now could I? :P Once i’m done I’ll let you guys register again.

Changes:

  • Both sites are managed with one core now.
  • Home page has new theme.
  • Contact form recoded.
  • Site speed increased 40%.
  • Easier access to functions in the control panel for devs.
  • And many more bug fixes.

Update-2:18pm:Everything is imported and running on the games side, the contact form is still not working for some reason, but all the games and their downloads are up, I don’t know if they are fully working yet, but time should tell with that. I am still working on getting the categories fixed. Should be all done within the next 30 min or so…

Update-12:18pm: So I got the site’s back up, currently in the process of importing the data back in, as the database is different now this may take a bit of work to do.

We will be going down for maintenance around 10:30AM EDT for a couple hours or so, this will take down both this site and the games site down. I will try and get the news site up ASAP, but since I will be combining the two sites together it might not be possible till the conversion is complete. So please be patient, as I don’t want to loose anything in the process..

Update: So at the moment I cannot access the control panel for the site, our lovely host likes to change our password every so often and only the admin can get it and the admin I can’t seem to get a hold of right now. So until then, the conversion is going to have to wait…

Update: Alright, I got everything taken care of, and will be taking down the site as we speak. Will hopefully have everything backup within a couple hours.

So wordpress(our backend) has been upgraded to the latest software, 3.0 and all plugins have been also upgraded. So if you notice any odd bugs starting to show up, please let us know so I can get them fixed. The news page shouldn’t have to many if any, but the games page might be really messed up because some plugins gave me some trouble after the upgrade. If you do see any errors please include the error in your email, if you can not get to the support contact page, please try the forums or email me at z...@zhdapps.com and put “Support Ticket” as the subject line.

Update: Also our permission system for the developers, so that you guys can edit your games and update them on our site is non-functioning at the moment, so if you can’t see your games or the download manager in the dash-board please be patient as we are working on getting this fixed.

So I get a Zune HD in a couple days, so what does that mean, that means I’ll be able to code stuff for zhdapps.com for your Zune HD, what else does that mean, that means with luck I could make it so you could install apps onto your HD without the computer, now wouldn’t that be cool? It will probably take me a couple weeks after I get my zune HD to get a good sense of the openzdk API, but afterwards you can expect some changes to the site, I can’t say what you’ll see change quite yet but once I get a view of things from the Zune HD’s perspective of how our site works on there, things will go from there.

I will probably need some testers for any app I develop for here, or for any website changes that will come. I will probably post stuff on the forums and I might put another news post up, we’ll see, just keep an eye on our fb page to!

It has been a while for anything exciting to come to the zune regarding third party development, but what everyone wanted is now here.  Members at www.zuneboards.com have come up with a way to deploy and debug c++ applications and games to/on the Zune HD.  With this new “Hack” programmers are allowed to use the Zune HD’s Entire processing power and 3D abilities… And that’ts not all!!

Doom has already been ported to the zune as well as a Gameboy Classic and Gameboy Color Emulator!! Head over to the OpenZDK section to check them out!

Doom, the classic Shooter.
Visual Boy Advance, a GB/GBC Emulator.

Well over the next week or so you should see a new category and FAQ on OpenZDK up on the site. As there is only one or two apps so far that we have seen made with OpenZDK we aren’t rushing into things. If you have any suggestions on the way we should display OpenZDK apps to show that they are not your usual apps, let us know, either by comments or by sending us some feedback.

Also another thing, we still need help out with the site, I know there was alot of confusion and all but it’s been a busy last few months, soo we need some people to look for app news to post here, and we need some help to make sure the games stay up to date that are not managed by the developers on here. I am not worried about the forums right now as they are not really that busy. With about 91 games/apps up, and only maybe 1/10th of them are managed by the actual dev, it’s gonna take more then a couple people to keep these apps up to date.

Also another thing that has to do with OpenZDK, we are willing to support someone making an app for the Zune HD that displays all the apps on the HD and such that you can download. If someone wants to create something like that and would like access to our app/game db please contact me either by email(Z...@zhdapps.com) or on the forums. A app store however we will not support as we don’t want to get in the middle of any legal issues with Microsoft.
